Poppies in Breck

medium:

acrylic and mixed media with red metallic leaf
40" x 30" canvas

Red foil flowers dangle from an abstracted tree-lined sky stretching over purple mountains majesty. Summer blooming poppies are the reflection of the moody Douglas-fir forest. Prisms of sun light pierce through the worn-out afternoon thundershowers; a glimmer of warm sunshine before the cold dusk. The reversed ridgelines of the Tenmile Range, Quandary Peak (my first 14er summit), and Mt. Elbert (my highest 14er summit) dance in a perspective of reflection, as though they are being viewed in an alpine lake. A loving memory of summer holiday in the mountains of Colorado.
